Thank you to those of you who monitor this site. Our open bear tag was filled, and our hunters have begun arriving! The woods seem to be filled with bears this year. Unfortunately, or fortunately, however you may look at it, we have now documented 2 sets of sows with twin cubs. A no-no for our hunters! We do not allow the shooting of mama bears who still have babies like the one caught on our bear cam here. While they cannot be shot, they are fun to watch, though, if the opportunity arises, as it did for Steve Schaffer of Luck, WI. He had the opportunity to view the mama and cubs in the photo below. If you look closely you will note that one of the cubs is brown! My first time seeing a brown 'black' bear here!
The weather continues to keep us all wet and cool, as seems to be the norm for many of us in the central states and middle provinces this year. I'm hoping that our fall will turn around here! Let's keep our fingers crossed! To be on the safe side pack warm and in many layers if you have a fall trip planned! And don't forget your rubber boots!
Road construction on Highway 599 continues. The section between the English River and Silver Dollar seems to be completed, and the section between Ignace and the English River is now torn up. Drive with care and expect some delays, as there is a lot of loose gravel in that section. The slower the better so that you don't chip your vehicles, trailers, and boats.
For those of you keeping up with our youngest son, Caleb, and his health, he just got another clean bill of health at his ONE YEAR post chemo appointment! YIPPEE!!! Thank you all for your continued prayers and well wishes! We love you!!!
