Week 4 continued to be cold and rainy, but the fishing was great! Many big walleye were caught, as were lake trout. The Brink group had a ball on "Beer Can Island" fishing the trout with ciscoes! It was especially nice with the picnic table there now. The Ruis group brought their ATV's this year and enjoyed outlake fishing almost every day! What adventure! The picture on the left is Jake Hanenburg showing off his nice trout.
Week 5 brought a complete turn around with the weather. Summer hit!!!! Almost the entire week we had sunny, 70-85 degree days! The fish were in shock for the first 4 days, as were we! We all got sunburned, but enjoyed the change. By Wednesday for our first fish fry of the year we were getting a bit frustrated with the fishing, but then--WHAM!-they turned on again. That's just how fishing goes, I think! Guests continue to comment on how big the walleye are that they are catching this year. The VanderLinden group said that they must have caught 50-60 walleye over 20 inches in 2 days! Wow! The picture on the right is Drew VanderLinden with one of his biggies!
